Ranting after the jump.
Yesterday, I received quite the disturbing message via Facebook. However, it wasn't the words that were disturbing it was the video. While it was not the video that was is referenced above, it was similar, as young children found themselves bumpin' and gridnin' all up on one another.
This is wrong. Wrong. Bad. And not to mention disgusting. Blame the "hip-hop culture/generation" as much as you want, but this seems to be a case of bad parenting. Wait, but there are adults in there. Adults can save them. Sure, they could save them, but they don't. It looks as if the grown ups in this video (as well as the original video) are encouraging the acts.
I'm not sure what kind of cultural dance the youngsters are getting into, but it's not any culture that I've ever studied. And no, as a Latino/Hispanic, I do not know of such a culture that encourages this kind of dancing for youngsters.
Now, when you're older, it's a much different story. Grabbing your partner and gettin' your juke on is mildly acceptable at the club. However, there is a fine line between a little bump & grind (as R. Kelly would suggest) and doing the nasty on the dance floor. And these kids aren't just toeing the line, they are stomping on it and abusing the heck out of it.
